Genetic Testing

My Gene Profile: http://bit.ly/2gO1ZK is both intriguing and creepy. It feels like the start of Gattaca.

The marketing copy on their site is atrocious and the email I got about it that they wanted me to send to all my subscribers sounds like it was translated into english by someone in Shanghai.

Here are some of the Genes they test for (they have 40 talent/characteristic tests):

Optimism Gene
Risk Taking Gene
Sociable Gene
Persistence Gene
Shyness Gene
Composure Gene
Depression Gene
Impulsive Gene
Split Gene
Attentiveness-Focused Gene
Mouldability-Adaptability Gene
Creative Gene
Analytical Thinking Gene
Intelligence Gene
Memory Gene
Obesity Gene

There's a series of videos all about it that they wanted me to send out periodically:

1. Introduction

2. The Test

3. In the News

4. Testimonials

5. How to get started

It gets really creepy when they give you a career recommendation. Now you can treat your child like an accountant for his/her entire life! :)

I also really like the phrase, "Gene disabled talent" ;)

I suspect parents would find self-fulfilling prophecies from these tests regarding career path suggestions. If this test says your child is not artistic--you will probably treat your kid like she has no artistic ability, reinforcing that nature and causing your child to become (more) non-artistic.

Still, kind of intriguing...
